Andrea Sparks is an artist and educator who currently lives in Boston, but-- having heard the call of New Mexico and El Morro-- is working on a Southwest-wardly move sometime soon. As a painter, she explores landscapes, memory-scapes, and dreamscapes. Using gestural ‘notes’ to relay a story--in the evanescent way that a poem might-- her paintings provide a glimpse, or an impression of a space or place. Another theme in Andrea’s paintings and drawings are ‘everyday objects’ (fence posts, basketball hoops, vacuum cleaners, bicycles) and how these objects animate and populate the landscape of our world
